What other funding sources have you applied to?
Check other sources like Human Resources Development Centers,
Unemployment Insurance Benefits, Ministry of Child and Families.
Your chances of obtaining sponsorship increases with other
agencies if you contact them.
Letter of Intent
Once you have received a refusal from other funding agencies,
students are advised to submit their request for funding
not later then Nov. 1 of each year for the following September
entry. Your request must include important details
like start dates, letter of acceptance, costs and current
contact information.
Do you Qualify?
Once you are expected by an institute of your choice, it
is important to know you must be enrolled in a minimum
of four courses or 12 credits.
Student Responsibility
The student must submit a letter of intent by the November
1 deadline, including all details of sponsorship.
Successful students must sign a contract with the Education
Department to allow sponsors to conduct routine checks on
attendance and progress.
Students must ensure they attend daily and send monthly
attendance reports to the Hagwilget Village Education Department
as well as Transcripts after each semester. The Education
department also requires receipts for tuition, books and
supplies.
If the student withdraws or is terminated, it is important
to notify the Education Department immediately, failure
to do so will jeopardize future funding assistance.
Funding Guidelines
Funding for Post-secondary is not intended to replace other
sources of income. Education assistance covers living
allowance (rent, food, travel), tuition, books and supplies
(pens, paper, daytimer). Travel to and from the insitute
of choice is included if it is not from your permanent residence.
Students will be funded for only one career choice.
It is important to choose the right career. Students
experiencing difficulties with their studies must contact
the school counsellor or Eductation Department as soon as
possible. Students experiencing illness must obtain
a letter from the doctor to confirm absences. Students
must submit recpiepts for rent and travel.
Payment Schedule
Education cheques are deposited monthly on the first day
of each month. Cheques are based on attendance, number
of dependants, marital status and rental locations.
The Education Department deals with the Royal Bank, students
without a Royal Bank account will recieve cheques in the
mail. Bank transfers to other insitutions will be
done through the mail. Any changes to accounts or
institutions must be forwarded to the Education Department.
Cheques will be issued to the student only. |
